Foward Power Sees Hucclecote Home
Lydney 0 – Hucclecote 34
Huccelcote Under 13s went into the Christmas break on a high after recording another win on the road, a 34 – 0 demolition of Lydney.
For the second match in a row the boys in black and yellow rattled in over 30 points without conceding a score. The ‘Cote forwards soon achieved almost total dominance and it was their power that laid the foundations of the win.
First Harry Kirkham smashed his way to the line from a tap penalty, minutes later the Hucclecote forwards took a scrum against the head, wheeled infield and flanker Josh Bailey picked up and dived over from close range.
Hucclecote went further ahead straight from the kick off. The ball was fielded on the right wing and moved infield. Centre Callum Drummond powered home and then converted his own score to make it 0 – 17 at the break.
The visitors thought they had gone further ahead when winger Matt Fenton dived over the line, but his effort was disallowed after the referee adjudged the final pass to have gone forward.
Hucclecote settled the better after the break and went further ahead, skipper Olly Proverbs rounding off a move to touch down in the corner.
Minutes later Drummond scored his second try of the match, sprinting home from the halfway line. He converted his try with a brilliant kick from the touchline.
The final score came after Lydney infringed at a line out. Niall Wellington spotted a gap in the defence and took a quick tap penalty and was unstoppable from ten metres out.
