Ten Try ‘Cote Send Longlevens Crashing
Longlevens U13 0 - Hucclecote U13 64
Hucclecote U13s maintained their excellent start to the season with their third victory on the spin, a ten tries to nil savaging of local rivals Longlevens.
The home side had no answer to the powerful Hucclecote side who took just three minutes to take the lead, and from there it was all one-way traffic until the half-time interval.
The platform was laid by some strong work from the Hucclecote forwards, with Luke Foran, Harry Kirkham and Sam Bellingham repeatedly punching holes through the Longlevens.
With so much good possession the visitors were able to supply quality ball to their backs who took advantage of the good conditions to run in seven first half tries.
Centre Callum Drummond and wing partner Niall Wellington both ran in first half hat-tricks of tries, with club captain Olly Proverbs adding a seventh on the stroke of half time. Drummond added six conversions to his impressive first half points tally.
With a large squad to chose from the Hucclecote coaches made a number of changes at the half time interval.
Longlevens came out determined to make up for their first half mauling and played some excellent rugby during the early stages of the second half, and only some dogged defending stopped the home side getting onto the score sheet.
‘Cote went further ahead after a Longlevens attack was broken up by Craig Thompson. Brad Harris made good ground through the middle of the park and fellow forward Josh Bailey crossed the line but was judged to have been held up. From the resulting scrum number eight Jordan Fowke battered his way over the line.
Minutes later Sam Carter broke up another Longlevens attack, the ball was fed left for wing Kieron Langley to touch down the first of his two tries, his second coming from a trademark sprint down the wing as the referee prepared to blow for full time.
Ross Hannaford converted to complete another powerful all-round performance. |
