This year is a big step up for our boys as we move from mini rugby to the junior game. This means that we will be playing with a full team of 15 on a much bigger pitch. There are also numerous other changes that the lads will have to get used to so they will need to concentrate even harder than before.
Our emphasis this year will be to continue to develop our squad's all round ability and fitness and hopefully prepare them for a long playing career with the club. As always, though, we will try to ensure that the boys enjoy the game and get a lot out of it.
We have a large squad (click here for the squad details) this year but are determined that all the boys get a chance to play in as many matches as possible. To do this we will rotate the squad throughout all our friendly matches, but we will aim to have a more settled squad for the County Cup tournament.
We had a great season last year, winning all but a couple of our friendly club games. We came second in the tournaments at Dursley and Worcester, and at the end of the season took the trophy in the Cirencester Sevens Tournament. So this year we have a hard act to follow.
This year we will train and play our matches at King Georges Playing Field and not at the rugby club. It's easy to find us, from the HRFC club house go back on to Churchdown Lane, turn left, then at the trafic lights turn right onto Hucclecote Road. Go straight on for about half a mile, then turn right into North Upton Lane. Just after you pass a big rest home on your left hand side take the turning on the left - signposted for King George's Playing field. Follow this road to the bottom and the park is in front of you.
We welcome and appreciate the support and help from all of our boys' parents, it makes a great difference to the squad when you come along and support us.
